Miller predicted Canada would advance
Canada defender Kamal Miller told me after their 2-0 defeat to Argentina last week that the North American side would advance to the knockout round. "We went into this tournament believing we can win."
This 1-0 win over Peru was a huge step towards Miller's prediction coming to fruition.

The red card helped them mightily but they won't care. They have a real shot of advancing from Group A now.
Crepeau denies Guerrero again!
90+5' Peru 0-1 Canada
Peru have a free kick in a decent shooting position. Guerrero lets fly, aiming at the near post, but Crepeau sees it the whole way and gets over to make another save.

Oluwaseyi close to scoring first Canada goal
88' Peru 0-1 Canada
Oluwaseyi steals the ball from Santamaría and is all alone as he walks into the Peru box, but he fails to beat Gallese from a tight angle.
Moments later, he has an opportunity to tap a cross in from point-blank range but gets his contact all wrong.
Canada want a second goal
86' Peru 0-1 Canada
Davies flashes his skill as he skips past a defender in midfield. He advances towards the box and plays the ball forward, but his pass eludes Oluwaseyi in addition to the last defender.

David receiving Chelsea interest

78' Peru 0-1 Canada
A goal for Canada that could be well received on both sides of the pond.
The Athletic's David Ornstein reported on Saturday that Chelsea have held talks with Jonathan David's representatives about a potential transfer this summer.
The 24-year-old is high among a number of options the club are looking at to strengthen their attack ahead of next season.
Chelsea are yet to approach Lille but have a good relationship with them by virtue of also owning fellow Ligue 1 team Strasbourg, via their BlueCo consortium.
Could we be seeing more goals like that at Stamford Bridge next season?

A clinical counterattack by Canada as they score their first goal of the tournament!

Canada come close
72' Peru 0-0 Canada
Canada are beginning to put Peru under more pressure, trying to make their man-advantage count.
Shaffelburg has time and space on the left wing to whip the ball across the face of goal, but his teammate isn't making an aggressive enough run to tap it home at the back post.
Guerrero comes on
70' Peru 0-0 Canada
Gianluca Lapadula is replaced by Paolo Guerrero, Peru's all-time record goalscorer.
