Food for Education (F4E) is an African-led, women-led social enterprise that uses technology, smart operations and logistics to provide low-cost, high-quality meals that improve nutrition and education outcomes for primary school children in Kenya.
We are growing quickly. Our mission is to scale models that prioritize efficient supply chain, management and sustainable sourcing, so we can continue lowering the cost of school lunches. We have delivered over 40,000,000 meals since 2012 and are expanding to reach our goal of serving at least 1,000,000 public primary school students in Kenya every day by 2027.

About the Role
The Junior Facility Associatewill be tasked with supporting the scoping out and launching multiple concurrent pilots and successfully integrating them into the core kitchen operations of F4E’s business. The role will also be responsible for improving and embedding policies and processes aimed at evaluating and mitigating potential risks. This role requires excellent project management skills, building and construction skills, stakeholder management abilities, and a solution-oriented mindset.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Planning and coordination of expansion sites
- Assist Expansion associate with project management
- Collaborate in developing project plans and timelines for kitchen maintenance, repairs and serving infrastructure construction and maintenance.
- Facilitate timely hand over of complete projects.
- Monitor and adjust project schedules as necessary to ensure the timely completion of repairs/maintenance/construction milestones.
- Site Supervision:
- Supervise repairs, maintenance and construction processes across kitchens and serving infrastructure in expansion sites.
- Ensure compliance with design specifications, building codes, F4E quality standards and safety regulations.
- Handover and Closeout:
- Facilitate the smooth handover of completed projects to the business operations team, ensuring all necessary documentation is provided.
Operations
- Assist Expansion Associate in providing training and guidance:
- Support the development and delivery of facility training programs for school and kitchen staff.
- Offer guidance on proper use and care for kitchen and school infrastructure
- Ensure accurate records
- Maintain accurate and up to date records of all repairs and maintenance data.
- Assist in collating inferences from repairs and maintenance data to inform design and design strategy and operational efficiency
- Communicate findings to the Expansion Associate.
- Regularly communicate findings from maintenance databases, field work, partners and stakeholders to the Expansion Associate
- Provide insights, recommendations and strategies for continuous improvement and user centric solutions.
- Report and assist in correcting substandard works
- Report any non-conformances to our quality standards to the Expansion Associate
- Collaborate with partners and internal teams to implement corrective measures and prevent future non-conformance.
- Risk management.
- Observe internal operational trends and external forces to forecast potential risks to Food for Education operations.
- Mitigate potential risks even when it means changing strategy or suspending one or more aspects of a project
- Develop and maintain a facilities risk register.
Desired candidate profile
- At least 2 years of relevant experience with a proven track record in a similar role.
- An undergraduate degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or any other relevant technical field.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- Detail-oriented, and with strong execution skills.
- Solutions-oriented, able to think on their feet, and quickly pivot.
- Independent-minded, and can thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
- Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time.
